📖 About this place

The Somapura Mahavihara at Paharpur is believed to have been founded in the eighth century by the Pala king Dharmapala. This square monastery holds more than a hundred cells around a huge cruciform temple. Terracotta plaques on the walls show scenes of daily life of the era. A museum nearby displays artefacts and sculptures.

🚌 How to go

From Naogaon town it takes about 1.5 hours via Badalgachhi by bus or CNG, costing BDT 100 to 300. From Dhaka allow 6 to 7 hours via Joypurhat or Naogaon.

Naogaon town has hotels at BDT 800 to 3,500. A tourism motel is also nearby.
