Lalmonirhat lies near the Indian border and is famed for the barrage on the Teesta. A huge irrigation project, a border corridor and old zamindar houses are its draws. It is easy to reach as a rail junction.

Trains (Lalmoni, Rangpur Express) take about 9–11 hours from Dhaka, BDT 400–1,300. Buses take 8–10 hours, BDT 800–1,400.
