📖 About this place

Mahasthangarh is a fortified city roughly 2,500 years old that served as the capital of ancient Pundranagara. Spread along the west bank of the Karatoya river, it includes ramparts, Govinda Bhita, Mankalir Dhap and the legendary Behula's Bashor Ghor. A nearby museum displays terracotta plaques and coins found during excavations. Covering the whole site means a fair amount of walking, so wear comfortable shoes.
