📖 About this place

Tengragiri lies in the coastal Taltali area and holds dense mangrove stands of sundari, keora and geoa trees. Creeks and rivers run through the forest, and a boat trip can reveal monkeys, deer and many birds. Because it sits near the sea, the tides keep changing the look of the forest. The calm setting makes it a favourite with nature lovers.

🚌 How to go

From Barguna town, a bus or CNG to Taltali takes about 1–2 hours and costs BDT 50–150. From there hire a trawler to enter the forest, costing roughly BDT 1,500–3,000 per boat. Allow 8–10 hours if travelling from Dhaka.

🏨 Where to stay

Basic hotels in Barguna town cost BDT 1,000–2,500 per night. There is no good lodging near the forest itself.

🍽️ Food

Try local river hilsa, prawn and crab curries in town. Carry snacks and drinking water for the boat trip.
